What to Expect as a Board Member
Our board members are the backbone of our organization. To ensure complete transparency, here is a detailed breakdown of the structure, influence, and commitments associated with the General Board Member role:
Geographic Flexibility: While we are proud of our deep roots in Texas, our vision knows no borders. You do not need to be a resident of Texas to join our board. We actively welcome diverse leaders from across the country whose national perspectives can help us broaden our horizons.
Significant Strategic Influence: Your voice will directly impact our trajectory. Each General Board Member holds a 9.8% voting influence on organizational decisions, ensuring that your insights carry real weight in our governance.
Term Limits & Renewal: Board members serve a dedicated 3-year term. We believe in balancing continuity with fresh ideas; therefore, after completing a term, members are eligible to serve on the board again following a mandatory 1-year break.
Financial Commitment (Give/Get): To sustain and grow our programs, board members commit to a $5,000 annual “give/get” dues requirement. We understand that contributions come in many forms, so we offer flexible fulfillment options. This amount can be contributed directly (paid either in monthly installments or as an annual lump sum) or raised through your personal fundraising efforts and network.
